Getting Married in Toronto Canada: Guidelines
The Marriage License
There's a fair amount of things you'll need to get your marriage license if you're getting married in Toronto. According to the City of Toronto website, here's what you'll need:
- Identification in the form of a birth certificate, driver's license, passport, citizenship card from any country, Canadian citizenship card, etc. (For full list of accepted identification, visit the website.)
- Both bride and groom have to be at least 18 or have parental consent if they are 16 or 17 years of age.
- $130 to pay the license fee. Charge cards are accepted.
- A certificate of divorce if you were divorced in Canada. If your divorce occurred outside of Canada, you'll need special authorization to obtain your license. Call 416-325-8305 for more information.
You don't have to meet any residency requirements, nor do you have to have any medical records or blood tests.

One of the most magical things about a wedding is the location. The scenery sets the stage for your ceremony and offers the backdrop for all your wedding photos. That's why, when you're getting married in Toronto Canada, it's important to find the most beautiful-or hippest-spots to get hitched.
If you're toying with the idea of an outdoor wedding, check out the list of parks and gardens in Toronto provided by the city's website. Perhaps you'd like to have your ceremony surrounded by four acres of gardens at Toronto Botanical Garden in Edwards Gardens North District. Another option is to get married in the new Toronto Music Garden, a waterfront park.
