The honeymoon is almost as eagerly anticipated as the wedding. This is a chance for the happy couple to get away and spend some well-deserved time enjoying each other's company. A honeymoon is especially rewarding after all the stress that comes with planning a wedding.
Go for the Bells and Whistles
If you can afford it, go for the bells and whistles. Weddings are often followed by the purchase of a new home and, perhaps a few months or years down the line, children. You may not be in a position to take the vacation of your dreams for a long time, especially a romantic vacation for two.
Consider honeymooning somewhere you've never been. Take a romantic beach vacation or cruise to another country. Go all inclusive to experience the best in luxury.
Speak to your Travel Agent
If you're not sure of where to go, or how to book, visit a travel agent. She's sure to have many ideas and can offer tips and advice. She'll be able to offer packages to fit your price range and will keep you informed of happening and events in the area. Don't leave anything to chance. Make sure all bases are covered including travel arrangements, food, and lodging. You'll also want to schedule as many daily activities as possible.
Book Early
Reserve flights and lodging as far in advance as possible and confirm twice; once about six weeks before the honeymoon, and once a week in advance. By booking early, you'll be ensured of a space and you may be able to take advantage of discounts not offered to last minute travelers.
Tips
- Shop around for the most affordable package. This can mean interviewing different travel agents and resort managers.
- Don't wear yourself out. Book a hotel room near the airport for your wedding night. You can fly the next morning or afternoon after you've had some rest.
- Airport security is very tight. Arrive for your flight at least two hours early and be mindful of what you're wearing, and what you're carrying. Don't wear items made of metal that can set off the detectors or carry suspicions items in carry on luggage. Keep ID handy at all times.
- Keep enough cash on hand to tip valets, doormen, drivers, servers and anyone else who provides a service.
